| PEEK, polyetheretherketone |
View Material Data |
|
|
| Polyaryletherketones are aromatic partly crystalline materials with exceptional properties. They have aromatic groups linearly connected through ether and ketone groups. The most common type is PEEK, polyetheretherketone, commercially available since 1978. The aromatic and ketone structure give high thermal strength, and the ether groups provide flexibility. The melting point of PEEK is 334 C and the glass transition is 143 C. |

| PEEK 450G: |
| PEEK 450 G has a very broad thermal range, and can be used continuously between –250 and 250 C, temporarily up to 310 C. It has high mechanical strength and stiffnss, and very good dimensional stability. It is insoluble in all common solvents, and has excellent resistance to dilute acids, bases, salts and steam (hydrolysis),
and can be sterilised by all conventional methods, i.e. with steam, dry heat, ethylene oxide and gamma irradiation.
It has inherent low flammability and smoke emission, and substantially lower moisture absorption than nylons and many other
polymers. It complies with US FDA and EU food contact regulations. |

| PEEK 450 MT: |
| PEEK 450G black. Properties are the same as for 450G, with the exception of electrical properties; values generally lie at half those of 450G. |

| PEEK TX: |
| An internally lubricated grade with food contact compliant composition, as well as superior wear and frictional performance, very suitable for a wide variety of bearing and wear applications in the 100 to 200°C service temperature range. |

| PEEK 450 GF30, with 30% glass fibre: |
| Addition of 30% glass fibre increases stiffness and heat distortion temperatures significantly. The excellent creep resistance and dimensional stability allow for high static loads for long periods at elevated temperatures. |

| PEEK 450 FC30, modified with PTFE, graphite, carbon fibre: |
| Grade modified with 10% carbon fibre, 10% graphite and 10% PTFE. The low friction, low wear and high pressure-velocity capacity is ideal for unlubricated bearing applications. |

| PEEK 450 CA30, with 30% carbon fibre: |
| The stiffest of the PEEK grades, with 30% carbon fiber reinforcement. Wear resistance is increased compared to glass filled grades, and the carbon fibres reduce thermal expansion and increase the thermal conductivity, dissipating heat away from the surface and increasing the pressure-velocity capacity. |
