PP, polypropylene View Material Data
The bulky methyl group in PP causes molecular entaglements leading to very tough properties. Compared to PE, PP is stiffer, tougher and has lower molecular weights (200-600 000 g/mol) and density (0,91 g/cm3). Melt point and service temperatures are higher, as well as the glass transition (around O C) which makes PP brittler at low temperatures. PP is more sensitive to thermo-oxidative degradation and is always stabilised. The chemical resistance is excellent.
PP-H, PP homopolymer:
The homopolymer has superior mechanical and thermal properties compared with copolymers.
