| The bulky methyl group in PP causes molecular entaglements leading to very tough properties. Compared to PE, PP is stiffer, tougher and has lower molecular weights (200-600 000 g/mol) and density (0,91 g/cm3). Melt point and service temperatures are higher, as well as the glass transition (around O C) which makes PP brittler at low temperatures. PP is more sensitive to thermo-oxidative degradation and is always stabilised. The chemical resistance is excellent. |
