| PMMA, polymethyl methacrylate (Plexiglas) |

| PMMA has high clarity, surface hardness and dimensional stability, excellent weatherability and chemical resistance. It can be polished to high gloss. Normal light transmission is at 92%, like glass. PMMA is rather brittle and is often copolymerised to increase toughness. The maximum service temperature is only 80-90 C. |

| Extruded PMMA has higher impact strength but lower molecular weight compared to cast shapes. The optical properties as well as mechanical strength, machinability and stress-crack resistance are lower. |
