| Polysulfone is an amorphous, transparent material with good dimensional stability and heat resistance, it can be used temporarily at 180 C. The chemical resistance is good, but the material is notch-sensitive, and some polar and aromatic solvents (ketones and esters) will cause stress-cracking. PSU has good flame resistance and is classed UL94 V0 at 1,6 mm. Water aborption is low and the resistance to hydrolysis is excellent even in continuous use in steam, and PSU can be steam-sterilized. PSU withstands high energetic radiation (not UV). The electrical properties are hardly dependent on temperature and frequency, with low dielctric constant and loss, high resistivity and dielectric strength. PSU has rather high friction and poor wear resistance. |
